Continuing the theme of restoring relationships established in Undivided #35, this sermon highlights the reconciliation process between Israel and the Gibeonites as a way to discuss the concept of restitution. The desire to make restitution is seen firstly as a sign of true repentance. Secondly, we see that it is wise to give the offended party input into what restitution should be. Thirdly, we come to recognize that total restitution is not always possible. Finally, we see that there is an element of corporate responsibility to restitution that is central to both this story and our faith. More than just a story of how David reconciled his people to the Gibeonites, in 2 Samuel 21 we also find a pattern for reconciling our own relationships.
