NSW Govt rejects pill testing as an appropriate response to meth crisis

NSW Govt rejects pill testing as an appropriate response to meth crisis The New South Wales government has rejected a scheme to introduce pill testing, despite the scheme being endorsed as an effective way in which to combat the deadly drug referred to as ice.

In November 2019 a coroner suggested introducing pill testing in NSW after the drug related deaths of six people at music festivals.

A report on the impact of the Meth Crisis in the state has also recommended introducing substance checking.

However, the government's refusal to introduce pill testing is consistent with its previous decisions on the matter and NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said “we have simply restated what we’ve already made very public”.
