This video is about pouring and finishing concrete in very cold weather. I have a formula on how I get my concrete to dry very fast so we can finish the concrete and get it covered to protect it from freezing. When cold weather sets in, the set times of concrete slow down dramatically. If you're pouring concrete that needs to be finished, you don't want to be waiting for it all night before you're done. My formula of keeping the sub-base covered with insulating blankets before the pour, using 4000 psi concrete with at least 100 degree water in the mix, and adding calcium chloride to the mix, will kick start your concrete set times so you can start the finishing process much sooner. Finishing concrete smooth in cold weather may require you to finish it by hand using knee boards. This video shows you how we finish a lot of our concrete floors using both a power trowel and knee boards to achieve a very smooth finish.
