Just A Shave: Gillette SS 40s Style - Gillette Silver Blue (11) - PDP No. 63 - Semogue 2000

Just A Shave: Gillette SS 40s Style - Gillette Silver Blue (11) - PDP No. 63 - Semogue 2000 Wanted to do two things today: 1) use the same soap and brush with the same load time and see if the lather was better with a bowl. It was. 2) Use the 40s Style SS with another blade to see if it would feel better than the Wizamet. It did. The GSB was nice.

Razor: Gillette - Super Speed 40s Style
Blade: Gillette - Silver Blue (11)
Lather: Pre de Provence - No. 63
Brush: Semogue - 2000 Boar (24 uses)
Post: Stirling - Dunshire

*Razor and Blade Notes* - Gillette - Super Speed 40s Style ::: Gillette - Silver Blue (11 uses):
Nice match of razor and blade. Comfy and close shave. The GSB worked well in this razor, unlike the Wizamet, which for me, gave just a little bit of irritation.

No tugging or irritation.

*Soap Notes* - Pre de Provence - No. 63:
Scent: Warm and spicy. Love it.

Scent Strength: 5/10, nicely present during shaving.

Lather: Lather was nicer than the face lather with the same brush and soap that I did yesterday. 2nd and 3rd pass were much more enjoyable. And I even had lather left for a 4th pass if I wanted. A clear winner over the face lather in my book.

Hydration: Perfect (for me)

* 80 sec load with a Soaking brush
* 0.5 tsp added to make lather
* = 4 passes of lather

Bowl: Roger Quintero 3D Printed Bowl
I use the XL version of this bowl.

*Brush Notes* - Semogue - 2000 Boar (24 uses):
Brush did well. Comfortable and soft. Looks like these soft boars just need quite a bit of load time with PDP to pick up enough soap. Or maybe more soak time. Maybe try 2-2.5 mins of loading if I do this one next time.

**Shave Quality**
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Felt blade but comfortable
Neck: Felt blade but comfortable
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get
Neck: Cut flush to where I just see the tips (above average for me)

Wetshaving is the age-old shaving method where you create a lather from a soap or cream, usually with a brush. And these days, we also usually mean using a safety razor (aka double edge or DE) or single edge or straight razor to remove the hair. We often enjoy less irritated skin, healthier skin, more enjoyable shaves, and often closer shaves than those who use a multi-bladed cartridge and canned shaving foam.
