In the final Radial vs. The World qualifying session for the Lights Out 11 drag radial event outside of Valdosta, Ga., atmospheric conditions had dropped the adjusted altitude to under sea level. There were expectations the cars would post incredible elapsed times and speeds. They would fly.
One entry did, literally.
Nitrous Radial vs. The World front-runner Marcus Birthings took a wild ride where his Corvette pulled a wheelstand and then went airborne. What goes up must come down and Birt's hot rod slammed back down to the racing surface.
Birt was checked out by onsite medical personnel, and released.
