Inmate released from detention center amid COVID-19 concerns

'코로나19' 감염 우려로 구치소 수용자 '석방 첫 사례'

An inmate has been released from a detention center in Daegu to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The man, who was under detention for theft, had recently visited a hospital to treat an injured ankle,... but it was later discovered that a nurse there had tested positive for the virus.
He will stay at home with his family for a month,... after which an extension will be decided depending on the situation and his condition.
Officials say the move is merely a precautionary step against any possible risk... and explained he isn't considered a flight risk as he is in a wheelchair following ankle surgery.
