EU on the brink? Brussels boss fears breakdown: Too much competition between EU countries, WORRYING!

David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, has warned MEPs that "the competition between East and West, between North and South of Europe , is worrying".


The Italian President of the European Parliament was taking part in a debate on tackling climate change and other EU priorities.



He told MEPs:



"We need to try to reduce distance. There is too much distance between us.



Between east and West, between North and South between the centre and the outer line regions.



The European project we all are working on, national institutions, European institutions, are made for shortening those distances.


We in the European Parliament we have our point of view, and that is that we need to finance the key programmes of the European Union.
