Louis Armstrong & His Hot Five 'Once in a While' on OKeh (1927) hot New Orleans jazz

Louis Armstrong & His Hot Five 'Once in a While' on OKeh (1927) hot New Orleans jazz "Once in a While," composed by William Butler, is nearly as hot as "Potato Head Blues." It has the chord changes of a good Tin Pan Alley tune.

I enjoy hearing Louis take on a non-blues, upbeat structure like this--come to think of it, "Potato Head Blues" is not a true blues.

Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five recorded this on December 9, 1927, in Al Capone's Chicago.

It was originally issued as OKeh 8566. There are no weak solos here (in contrast to some Hot Five or Hot Seven recordings with uninspired guitar solos).

Armstrong, Louis (Trumpet, Vocal)
Robinson, Fred (Trombone)
Strong, Jimmy (Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone)
Hines, Earl (Piano)
Carr, Mancy (Banjo)
Singleton, Zutty (Drums)
