SC refuses to order Kerala govt to provide protection to women activists entering Sabarimala Temple Top stories of the day:

1. The Supreme Court on Friday refused to pass an order to the Kerala government to provide protection to the women entering the Sabarimala Temple. The top court’s comment came on the petitions filed by two women activists who sought protection from the Kerala Police to enter the Sabarimala shrine.

2. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to India, scheduled next week, has been cancelled. "Both sides have decided to defer the visit to a mutually convenient date in the near future," the foreign ministry said.

3. Amid the outrage in the Parliament over Rahul Gandhi's 'rape in India' remark, the Congress leader on Friday refused to apologise on his statement, saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to divert the attention from the protests in northeast. Gandhi further said that he has a clip in phone in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be seen calling Delhi a 'rape capital'.
