A bemused shopper was left open-mouthed when Amazon wanted to charge her £10,000 delivery so she would get a gift in time for Christmas. Danielle Long ordered a £4.99 present for herself, which she wanted in time for Christmas Day. But the 24-year-old was stunned when the online retail giant wanted her to pay the extortionate post and packaging fee. The standard delivery charge on the Nifogo Bedside Pocket - a holder for phones and tablets which clips on your bed - was just £2.99. However, that would not arrive until January 11 at the earliest. Amazon offered her next day delivery but that was £9,999 - which was £9,996.01 more expensive. But that was still a risk because it would arrive between Christmas Eve and December 27. It did offer a slightly cheaper delivery of £8,888 for it to be guaranteed by Friday. Kids soft play worker Danielle, of Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland posted the hiked charges on Facebook . She quipped: "That's a tough one. "I wish it was a joke, really wanted it before Christmas." She later added: "I was shocked, but I found it funny. "I don't know why the postage was so high. "But I think its from a secondary seller through Amazon." Commenting on the Facebook post, Amy Warner said: "Surely not?" Pal Abygail Grundie asked: "Did you get it sorted?" Danielle replied: "Yeah I paid £2.99 and I'll wait until January." Amazon has been approached for comment.
