Panama’s most well-known hat is originally from Ecuador

Panama hats are finely-woven by hand, made of straw and intended to protect those who wear them from the strong Caribbean sun.

But if you ever go to Panama, look up the “Pintado hat.” That is actually the hat originally from Panama.

Correspondent John Zarrella traveled to La Pintada to introduce you to Panama’s authentic hat.
