DirectX 12 Update = Big Boost to Ray Tracing & Performance | AMD Significantly Ramps Up R&D Microsoft are dramatically updating Directx 12 with several new features will be dramatically improve performance. This will also be super interesting not just for PC, but also Xbox Scarlett too.

DX12 will support tier 1.1 of ray tracing, bringing a lot of features such as execute indirect for ray tracing to improve performance, and also we see Mesh Shaders included into the DX12 feature set, which should improve performance of traditional rasterization.

AMD has also confirmed they will ramp up their research and development budgets in an effort to keep on top of Intel and fight off Nvidia.

Meanwhile, Intel's Ice Lake SP has confirmed to be launching for servers in 2020. Ice Lake SP will use Intel's Sunny Cove, and the CPUs will be on a 10nm+ process.
