It has been more than 100 hours since disaster struck the 200 MW Kopili Power Plant in Umrangso but NEEPCO is still battling hard to bring the situation under control. All efforts right now are mainly concentrated at closing the gate of the intake point of the inclined tunnel, the downstream portion of which got breached at multiple locations on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the other big story that Northeast live is tracking is that the 75 MW Khandong power plant has been shut due to the Kopili mishap.
It has learnt that the Khandong plant has also been shut down since the past 3 days.
