While we all like to put our best foot forward online, beware of accommodations that seem heavily photoshopped. Using Google Street View is another great way to make sure those dreamy online photos match up with reality.
Additionally, resources such as TripAdvisor.com and BedbugReports.com are vital tools in vetting your next accommodation. Don't be afraid to reach out directly as well - remember, if it's difficult to reach a real person during the booking process, it will be difficult to reach them during your stay.
