Are you thinking about travelling to Cambodia, retiring in Cambodia or just living in Cambodia?
In this video we give you a run down of some the costs you may encounter while living in Cambodia 2019.
All the costs will be in U.S dollars.
Food.
A basic lunchtime menu (which includes a drink) in the business district ($5.41).
Combo meal in a fast food restaurant (Big Mac Meal or similar) ($6).
500 grams (or 1 pound) of boneless chicken breast ($3.79).
1 litre (or 1 quart) of whole fat milk ($1.98).
12 large eggs ($1.68).
1 kilogram (or 2 pounds) of tomatoes ($1.74).
500 grams (16 ounces) of local cheese ($9).
1 kilogram or 2 pounds of apples ($4.06).
1 kilogram or 2 pounds of potatoes ($1.52).
Small bottle, 0.5 litre (16 ounce) of local beer bought in the supermarket ($1.04).
1 bottle of good quality red table wine, ($14).
2 litres of Coca-Cola ($1.54).
Fresh bread for 2 people for 1 day ($2.00).
Housing and Accomodation.
Monthly rent for an 85 square metre (900 Square feet) furnished house or appartment in the EXPENSIVE area ($1,500).

Utilities for 1 month (which includes heating, electricity, gas) for 2 people in a 85 square metre flat ($73).
Monthly rent for a 45 square metres (480 Square feet) furnished studio in an EXPENSIVE area ($683).
Monthly rent in Cambodia for a 45 square metres (480 Square feet) furnished studio in cheaper area ($360).
Utilities for 1 month, (heating, electricity, gas) for 1 person in a 45 square metres (480 Square feet) studio ($47).
Internet with 8 mega pixels for (1 month) ($17).
A 40 inch flat screen TV ($443).
A microwave 800/900 Watt (Bosch, Panasonic, LG, Sharp or equivalent brand) ($225).
Laundry detergent (3 litres ~ 100 ounce.) ($5.13).
The hourly rate for cleaning help (maid) ($4.07).
Clothes.
A pair of jeans (Levis 501 or similar) ($24).
A summer dress in a High Street Store (Zara, H&M or similar retailers) ($49).
A pair of sport shoes (Nike, Adidas or an equivalent brand) ($49).
A pair of men’s leather business shoes ($147).
Transportation.
A Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI 150 CV (or equivalent style), with no extras, new from($32,800).
1 litre (1/4 gallon) of gas ($0.99).
Monthly costs for public transport ($170).
Personal Care.
Cold and flu medicine for 6 days (Tylenol, Frenadol, Coldrex or equivalent brands) ($1.42).
1 box of antibiotics (12 doses) ($8).
A short visit to a private Doctor for 15 minutes ($49).
1 box of 32 tampons ($2.93).
Deodorant, roll-on (50 mils ~ 1.5 ounces) ($3.80).
Hair shampoo 2-in-1 (400 mils ~ 12 ounces) ($3.19).
4 rolls of toilet paper ($5.36).
A tube of toothpaste ($3.42).
A standard men's haircut in the expat area of the city ($2.68).
Entertainment.
Basic dinner out for two in a local pub ($14).
2 tickets to the movies ($8).
A dinner for two at an Italian restaurant in the expat area including appetisers, main course, wine and dessert ($41).
A cocktail drink in a downtown club ($2.67).
A cappuccino in the expat area of the city ($3.08).
1 beer in a local pub (500 mil or 1 pint.)($1.00) IPad
and Wi-Fi with 128 Gigabytes ($700).
1 minute of a prepaid mobile with no discounts or plans (5 cents)
1 month of gym membership in the business district ($38).
1 pack of cigarettes ($4.12).
Depending on where you shop and who you are with, some prices may be cheaper.
It’s always beneficial to shop with a local, as you may be charged extra, being from another country.
