Faceting gemstones - synthetic ruby.

In this video i cut a piece of synthetic corundum.
This material is aluminum oxide, with a mohs hardness of 9.
The refactive index is high at 1.76.
Chromium gives it its red color.

I use an american made faceting machine made by facetron.
I use diamond discs for cutting and a combination of diamond and oxide disc for polishing gemstones.
