Thermocline layer analysis Ecovat.

Thermocline layer analysis Ecovat. Ecovat® storages the temperature over several thermocline layers in the tank. The company is using direct inlets/outlets to charge/discharge the tank. Through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as can be seen from the video, the stratification in the tank
is well kept. The water is coming from the bottom diffuser and rising up due to the difference in water densities. A warm plume is formed in this process. With the passing of the time, the
water that is rising forms a uniform layer that extends itself. Once this layer is at a uniform temperature, the water plume is formed again and the process repeats. In addition to this process, the whole layer is moving up since water is extracted. In the beginning, the boundary of the thermocline layer is small and with the passing of the time its thickness increases due to the difference in the temperature. However, this boundary is always kept and never destroyed. There is no mixing between the two layers. In conclusion, the stratification between the layer is well kept and it is not destroyed. There is no mixing in the charging process.
