The stock market went crazy today with another historic drop. With stocks seeing a limit down halt in futures, we gapped down over 5% this morning and a level 1 halt was put in place as markets fell below 7%. With this being the first time in history we have ever opened below 5% and not closed above that open, markets are still react to the oil shock and oil prices, not to mention the virus outbreak concerns. Beyond that, the liquidity in markets made it really hard to trade, especially with options and the moves we saw will go past the micro. Despite such a large move, markets will price in quickly or slowly the impact of oil dropping and how that situation plays out. That being said I will be setting up my portfolio on this timetable and looking out for macro economic events. With bond yields pointing to an imminent recession, I am expecting to see a lot of volatility even if we do not see stocks crash.
