A distraught mum has alerted police after being sent videos of her son being attacked and bullied. She broke down in tears when she saw a clip of boys threatening to throw the teenager off a bridge and another of him being attacked. The mum, from Livingston, went straight to police before meeting her son’s headteacher. West Lothian Council told the Record that the school in question had dealt with the incident “appropriately”. But the mum said she wants the footage – which appears to have been filmed and shared on Snapchat – to be widely seen to encourage other young people to open up about bullying in schools. She said: “As soon as I saw the video, I knew I had to go to the police with it. I was devastated. “My son felt like he can’t come and talk to me and I’m petrified of what effect it will have. Something needs to be done. People need to be aware this is happening.” During the first filmed attack, the boy is assaulted on a bridge. One boy laughs and says: “He’s gonna fling him off the bridge.” Another shows him being punched repeatedly around the head by a boy in a laundry room. The mum, who is separated from her son’s father, said the school was made aware of one of the assaults in November but she was not informed. She said: “I had to leave the meeting because I felt sick. Why did I not get informed? My child had been a nuisance in school. Now I know why. “This bullying needs to be stopped and the bullies held accountable.” West Lothian Council said one of the boy’s parents was informed “at the time the school was made aware”. A spokesperson added: “We take incidents of bullying extremely seriously and the school has taken all appropriate measures.” A police spokeswoman said an investigation was under way. She added: “Officers will speak to the reporter to gather more information.” Scots mum’s horror at Snapchat clip of bullies threatening to throw her son off bridge Children,West Lothian Council,Livingston,Bullying,Schools
