While not a true "travel day", this vlog is as close as we'll get in this trip series. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Titusville Kennedy Space Center the night before boarding our Norwegian Breakaway cruise. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Titusville Kennedy Space Center is about a 30 minute drive to the Port Canaveral parking, so this hotel is a good option if you're in search for a hotel for the night before your cruise. A complimentary breakfast is included in the room rate at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Titusville Kennedy Space Center. Everything about this hotel is pretty standard; it's a good place to stay, but nothing spectacular.
We parked offsite for this Norwegian Breakaway cruise. We used a company called Park N Cruise. Park N Cruise is only a five minute drive from Port Canaveral! During our 7 day Norwegian Breakaway cruise, we saved about $50 parking with Park N Cruise. The experience at Park N Cruise couldn't have been easier. You simply leave your car keys on the windshield of your car and check in with a Park N Cruise employee a few feet away. Then, you line up with other Park N Cruise customers who are going on the same cruise as you. A Park N Cruise employee not only drives you to Port Canaveral, but also loads all of your luggage on and off of the shuttle. On your way to Port Canaveral, you'll catch glimpses of the VAB located at the Kennedy Space Center and cruise ships at Port Canaveral! The first glimpse of your cruise ship is always one of the most exciting moments of vacation. You'll also receive a claim ticket and instructions on where to get the Park N Cruise shuttle when your cruise is over.
But, our Norwegian Breakaway cruise is just starting, so let's not think about that right now! After going through security at the terminal at Port Canaveral, we filled out the usual public health questionnaire, as well as an addendum for the Coronavirus. The additional checks surrounding Coronavirus that I noticed was this questionnaire and thorough checks of all Norwegian Breakaway passengers' passports.
We didn't have to wait long in the terminal at Port Canaveral. We were in boarding group 23, but a Port Canaveral employee just started letting passengers on, so we ended up starting our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway way earlier than we expected to. Our boarding time when we checked in online before the cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line's website was noon and we stepped foot on the Norwegian Breakaway around 11-something in the morning.
Our first stop once we got onto the Norwegian Breakaway was the Breakaway Theater box office where we placed a few reservations for some comedy shows, which cannot be made online prior to the cruise. After we made our reservations at the Breakaway Theater, it was time to grab some lunch at the Garden Cafe, the buffet on the Norwegian Breakaway. From our table, we also got a great view of the Disney Fantasy, the Carnival Breeze, and the Carnival Elation, all in port at Port Canaveral as well. The Garden Cafe is a popular spot for us on any Norwegian cruise, so look forward to seeing more food options from the Garden Cafe throughout this Norwegian Breakaway cruise vlog series!
It wouldn't be day one on a cruise without some drama and my drama was losing my keycard! Ugh, don't ask me where I lost it, but the wonderful customer service on the Norwegian Breakaway shined through as Guest Services replaced my keycard in just a couple minutes and you know how busy that desk is on day one.
Also before sailing away on the Norwegian Breakaway, we stopped in at the Mandara Spa to purchase a Thermal Suite Pass. The Thermal Suite on the Norwegian Breakaway has saunas, heated ceramic tile beds, a Thalasso Therapy Pool, hot tub, and comfortable lounge chairs galore. While I wouldn't recommend purchasing your Thermal Suite Pass before sailing away, unless you want a comprehensive tour of the Mandara Spa.
Thanks for watching part 1 of day 1 on the Norwegian Breakaway!
