About This Video
In this online class, ‘The Ultimate Goal’ has brought for UGC NET Geography aspirant a discussion on ‘Insolation and Heat Budget’, an important chapter of Climatology. Insolation refers to incoming solar radiation. This radiation comes as a short wave to the earth which is very small amount of energy that is radiated by the sun. This energy is the primary source of energy on earth. The amount of insolation is influenced by mainly 4 factors. These factors are- Earth’s rotation, Angle of incidence of solar radiation, length of the day and transparency of the atmosphere. As the earth is a blackbody, the solar energy received by the earth transferred through the different processes such as conduction, convection, advection, etc. and ultimately returned to space. In this way, the balance of energy is maintained which is known as Heat Budget. Thus heat budget can be defined as a process of maintaining the balance between incoming energy and outgoing energy which is basically the Earth’s energy budget.
