Clean Energy: World's most efficient lithium sulphur battery developed in Australia

Clean Energy: World's most efficient lithium sulphur battery developed in Australia Researchers at the University of Monash in Australia have developed the most efficient lithium sulphur (Li-S) battery till date. This new battery is about four times more efficient than the current best .This means a car using these batteries could travel a 1000 Km on a single charge. The researchers reconfigured the sulphur cathodes of Li-S batteries. So they could take higher stress loads without a drop in overall capacity or performance.

The prototype of these cells have been successfully fabricated by Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology. These batteries will be put to trial around the world in 2020. The researchers say that these batteries are more environmentally friendly than the ones currently in the market.
