U.S. Marine surprises first-grade brothers at Briar Glen Elementary School

On December 16, 2019, Private First Class Nikko Bertone returned to his elementary school for a special visit. Pfc. Bertone was at Briar Glen Elementary School to surprise his twin brothers, who are in first grade.

Community Consolidated School District 89 serves nearly 2,300 preschool through middle school students from Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Wheaton, Illinois. Dr. Emily K. Tammaru is the Superintendent for the district, which includes four elementary schools and one middle school.
