Rudolf Slawitschek was a German speaking Prague official and lawyer, who wrote most volumniously about Austro-Hungarian Law and children's fairy tales. In 1939 he wrote "Hans Adam Löwenmacht", a 17th century adventure tale compared to Meyrink's "Golem", where a crippled young nobleman wanders from imprisonment, rebel camp, between religious revelation and diabolical mass, fighting a sword duel where both opponents have a sum total of two legs betwen them and chasing his own amputated leg on horseback in the company of a witch, whose father wanted to turn him into a tree.
