The American Accent For The Native Spanish Speaker - The Short a Sound

Not all languages have the same sounds. Part of my goal as a Voice & Speech Coach is to help people understand these differences. Why do British speakers and native-Spanish speakers tend to say “clāss” and people in Chicago say “clæs” with an extremely pinched sound?
