Motorist David Price, 65, was driving his lorry on the A17 in Newark, Nottinghamshire, on June 8 2018, when he failed to react in time to queuing traffic further ahead. His dashcam footage shows him slamming into the back of a Renault Clio, which then smashes into an Audi A1, sending it into the back of another lorry – all in under two seconds.
The driver of the Clio, a Leeds University student, suffered serious injuries in the crash, including a bleed on her brain, a broken back, broken neck, broken arm, broken ribs, and a broken nose.
She was forced to undergo a series of surgeries, resulting in her having to withdraw from her studies.
