Nigeria has been shoved into a nationwide electricity blackout due to the strike embarked upon by members of the National Union of Electricity Employees. The union stated that the reasons for the strike is the non-payment of the entitlement of two thousand workers of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) who were laid off when the company was privatized, short-payment for over 16 months and the condition of service for workers of electricity companies.
