Democratic counsel Daniel Goldman questioned Kurt Volker, the former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine, and Tim Morrison, a former White House official who served on the National Security Council, on Nov. 19, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.Goldman asked Morrison what Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, said after his phone call with Trump.Morrison recalled that Sondland said there was no quid pro quo but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had to make a statement, related to Biden-Burisma relations, and that he had wanted to do it.Morrison confirmed to the committee that he was concerned what Sondland relayed to him.The impeachment inquiry has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
