1) Why a scissor jump is so useful
2) How to perform an efficient scissor jump
3) How to practice and improve your technique, no matter what your level is
--- Summary -------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the 4 important keypoints for a perfect scissor jump, that I point out in the video:
1) Get your dominant foot to the back to prepare for the shot
2) Initiate your jump with the dominant leg and push your hip forward
3) Bring your left foot far behind your body for landing
4) Leave space for your landing foot to move forward
--- Additional tipps -------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to use the power of the body rotation from your scissor jump you have to hit the shuttle in front or above you. If it is too far beside you, you won't get any power from it and the rotation will cost you a lot of balance and get you in a bad position afterwards. That is also the reasen why scissor jumps are usually performed in the middle of the court or the round the head corner because here you can hit the shuttle in front or above you. If you have a lot of time and can get under the shuttle on the forehand side it is also possible and can make sense to perform a scissor jump here, but usually you will perform mainly China Jumps on the forehand side (china jumps will be covered in the next tutorial).
