Its only 2 laps, and I did crash out at the end, but the guys I was trying to chase were about a second a lap faster and I had the wrong tyres... (Hard compound tyres don't work well over a 6 lap Race)
All GP Bikes' Racing is online, there is no AI. This means that every bike here is another person over the internet.
That being said, for the most part, racing is clean, and respectful, as there is a lot more to lose getting an overtake wrong here when compared to a car sim, and the contact model is very unforgiving.
It results in a motorcycle gaming experience like no other, as there is pressure to get the moves right, and to not hit everyone, which, in GP Bikes, is startlingly difficult, as even here in the sim, target fixation is a very prominent thing.
You have to look way up the road as to go where you want to, and if you look at someone you will hit them, just like a real motorcycle.
In my VR videos, they do not really show this, as it is one eyes perspective, and stretched as well, but, much like in a helmet, I am generally using my eyes to move a little more than my head, which I can do in VR as the image is 3D rendered.
Overall GP Bikes is an outstanding motorcycle experience - when it works. (It is still in Beta, and is likeley to remain so for a while yet, due to the developer being a VERY small team (3 Guys if I'm not mistaken), and them having 4 sims on the go at once)
That being said, it is well worth picking up the Demo to try it. The demo free, and runs on Most systems so whats to lose. At the very least you may not want it, at which there is nothing lost, but for 23 euro, you can't really go wrong in my honest opinion.
There are in-depth reviews out there, and, like anything, I recommend checking those out before you make a judgement or a purchase, as there are no refunds, and to be honest there is no reason as to why one would be needed, considering there is a free demo, and reviews.
Do your research!
