Young Associates: Behind the scenes

Young Associates: Behind the scenes What does it take to create a new dance work for the Sadler’s Wells stage?

We followed four talented young choreographers – Wilhelmina Ojanen, Anthony Matsena, Ruby Portus and Christopher Thomas – to find out.

The Sadler’s Wells Young Associates programme supports exceptional young dance makers aged 18 – 24, providing a crucial first step into their career as choreographers. The artists receive a tailored programme of professional development and support over two years, including the opportunity to present their work as part of the Sadler’s Wells artistic programme.

On 17 July 2019, the Young Associates presented the world premiere of ‘Together, not the same’ – an ambitious evening of work which marked their debut on the Sadler’s Wells main stage.
